Workshop “Cardiovascular Methods” (for experts)
Our group has many years of extensive experience in the implementation of different models in the research of mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases. This Workshop is meant to teach all interested parties the basic techniques, preparing them to pursue their own experiments and to contribute to scientific advancement in the field. Learning these elaborate techniques during the workshop will lead to a significant reduction in the required number of animals and a shorter learning curve of the scientists involved, thus fulfilling the requirements of the 3R principle (Reducement, Refinement and Reduction of Animal experiment, Russell and Burch 1959).
Animal Ethics
The appropriate animal approve is according to European legislation

- Myocardial infarction /Myocardial ischemia / reperfusion injury by left anterior coronary artery ligature in mice and rat
- Cell therapy and transplantation techniques in mice and rats
- Functional analysis (Echocardiography, Langendorff, Millar) in mice and rat

- Ex-vivo Carotid artery perfusion

- Skelatal muscle ischemia/reperfusion injury
- Skin flap-laps model in mice for study of angiogenesis

- ALZET mini-osmotic pump implantation

Target Audience
Research staff in this research field (doctors, veterinarians, and biologists)
Workshop will be organized over 5 days and includes theoretical seminars about possibilities and limitation using animal models, as well as practical training in a high specialized designated laboratory.
Registration
The number of participants is limited. Tax fee for the workshop will be 4000 €. A complete set of surgery tools, the accommodation, meals during the 5-days workshop and social events are included.
